March PubTalk: Beyond Business as Usual

February 23, 2013 No Comments

PubTalkPubTalk is coming up again on Thursday, March 14! Scott Sandler, Co-Manager of the Oregon Angel Fund, will give a presentation titled “Beyond the Paleo Business Model — It’s more than just making & selling stuff.” This interactive session will offer financial strategies for small businesses with examples drawn from real business stories. Sandler will help business owners answer questions like, What is my funding plan? Who has the money for my stage of business development? What are my  milestones? How much money do I need? Specific questions from participants are encouraged—so come prepared! This event will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Mt. Emily Ale House in La Grande.

The PubTalk will also include pitches from two Baker City businesses. Tammy Dowell of Baker Botanicals will talk about her professional gardening and hydroponics store which offers perennial plants, shrubs, vegetable plants, and herbs, along with a selection of garden supplies including seeds, lighting, nutrients, containers, and hydroponic products. Baker Botanicals is dedicated to providing a quality choice for people looking for plant and garden supplies, as well as serving indoor and alternative growers who need a reliable source of hydroponic products.

The other business to be featured is Bull Ridge Brew Pub, which Micah and Julie Blank opened in Baker City in 2012. Micah will talk about their dream to open an establishment that would be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike with a decor that highlights Eastern Oregon’s beauty.   Many people refer to them as a “gastro pub,” as they are a brewpub that features a range of meals from burgers to fine dining, and the dining experience can include a craft beer or a glass of wine.

PubTalk® is a bimonthly business networking event hosted by Northeast Oregon Economic Development District (NEOEDD) and Community Bank. PubTalks are open to all the community, with a focus on those who are operating a business or thinking of starting one. Tickets are only $5 and include light refreshments.
