Exterior
Earth'n'Book in historic La Grande is a poem, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream. It's a little bit country and a little bit rock & roll. It's a jam tart, a bargain basement, a fairy grot, a tram -- It's seventy thousand books, friendly shopcats and a warm place to linger in winter.

Nationally, the decline in independent bookstores indicates a loss of genuine experience for the deeply literate. Midlist authors find their voices best in small bookshops, as do poets and beginning writers. Locally, we are lucky to have a lovely clutch of privately run bookshops. Here are well-read booksellers aiding the enlightening stumble onto new, exciting discoveries.
InteriorEarth'n'Book was established in 1992, and has grown into the largest bookstore in Northeastern Oregon, with its emphasis regional and western history. Championing literature in all its forms, every subject is covered, and every reading level, from childrens' books to textbooks, from pulp fiction to the obscure, from antiquarian books to the latest in science fiction/fantasy.

Services include out-of-print book searches, new book orders, discounts for schools, libraries, book dealers and students of Eastern Oregon University. We purchase estates, and do appraisals and book repair.
